Terumasa Hino “BLUE GIANT” drummer Shun Ishiwaka lands in Ishikawa for GW 【Kanazawa Event】

World-class jazz trumpeter Terumasa Hino will give a live performance as part of the 『Wind and Green Music Festival 2023』. Moreover, Terumasa Hino will lead a quintet of eminent members, including Shun Ishiwaka, who played drums in 『BLUE GIANT』, to Kanazawa, which should be exciting for 『BLUE GIANT』 fans as well as jazz fans.

What is the Wind and Green Music Festival?

The 『Wind and Green Music City Music Festival』 is a music festival that has been held around Golden Week in Kanazawa City, Ishikawa Prefecture since 2017.

Originally held as 『La Folle Journée Kanazawa』 from 2008 to 2016, it was renamed and re-launched as 『Wind and Green Music Festival in Kanazawa』 in April 2017. It is characterized by welcoming a variety of artists, incorporating various kinds of music while focusing on classical music.

When will the World Jazz Giant Terumasa Hino appear?

The 『Terumasa Hino Tp Jazz Performance』 is scheduled for May 4 (Thursday, national holiday) at the Hokkoku Shimbun Akabane Hall. The Terumasa Hino Quintet, featuring Terumasa Hino (tp), Ippei Kato (gt), Yusei Takahashi (pf), Marty Holoubek (b), and Shun Ishiwaka (ds), will perform.

Terumasa Hino also performed with Yusei Takahashi and Shun Ishiwaka at the Blue Note Tokyo in 2021 when the quintet performed jazz live. Moreover, it was Baba Tomoaki who played the tenor saxophone at that time.

The tenor saxophone is by Tomoaki Baba and the drums are by Shun Ishiwaka, which is emo now that I think about it.

A must-see for 『BLUE GIANT』 fans!

Shinichi Ishizuka’s manga work 『BLUE GIANT』 serialized in 『Big Comic』 was adapted into a theatrical animation and released as the movie 『BLUE GIANT』 on February 17, 2023. Pianist Hiromi Uehara, who was in charge of music, played the performance part along with saxophonist Tomoaki Baba and drummer Shun Ishiwaka.
