Musashi-machi’s 「Kinpaku Kirara」 will be open until February 12. It looks great against the snowy landscape【Kanazawa topic】

The 「Kinpaku Kirara」 which started on October 15 last year has only one month left to go.

I think the illumination of the 「snow hanging」 covered with golden snow crystals is beautiful and a typical Kanazawa scene. I love snowy nights because it makes for fantastic photos.

What’s a 「snow hanging」 anyway?

snow hanging is to reinforce tree branches by hanging or bundling them with ropes to prevent them from breaking under the weight of snow, and it is a winter tradition in Hokuriku and Tohoku regions.

There are about 800 trees in Kenrokuen, including Karasaki pine trees, and it takes about a month and a half for the craftsmen to snow hanging all of them. The techniques and workmanship are so impressive that gardeners gather from all over the country to learn from them.

It’s not called 「Glitter Tree」

We call it a glitter tree or a gold tree, and there are quite a few people who don’t know it has a name, but it has a respectable name, 「Kinpaku Kirara」.

There’s a good description.

The contrast of white and gold looks great on a snowy night.

It’s cold, so I’d like to stay warm and go see it.
