The musical 『DADDY』, starring Reia Nakamura (7 MEN Samurai/Johnny’s Jr.), Juki Koyama (Johnny’s Jr.), Miho Owada, Daisuke Yokoyama, and others, was performed at Honda no Mori Hall in Kanazawa, Ishikawa Prefecture on Wednesday, April 19.
Actors say, 「It was a total surprise」
The musical 『DADDY』 (written by Kinuyo Nogami, directed by Masahiko Kawahara, music by Hirotaka Nakagawa and Toshihiko Shinzawa) features band performances and singing. In this context, actor Masataka Kimura and dancer Mayu Yoshida, who are members of the ensemble cast, tweeted their impressions of the show.
Masataka Kimura, on the eve of the Kanazawa performance, was very excited, saying, 「Honda no Mori Hall is really big and I was really excited」, while Mayu Yoshida tweeted after the performance, 「It’s a very spacious venue! I felt the audience was very warm」.
Features of the venue that have wowed artists in the past
In fact, not only the cast of 『DADDY』 but also numerous artists who have taken the stage at Honda no Mori Hall have been surprised and impressed by the episode.
In February, when 『Ganryujima』 starring Ryusei Yokohama was performed in Kanazawa, a related person wrote on the official account, 「It was a wonderful venue with 1,700 seats on one floor, very easy to watch! The view at the curtain call was unforgettable!」 .
In addition, when 『THE ALFEE 2022 Autumn Tour Genesis of New World』 was held in Kanazawa last December, Toshihiko Takamizawa commented, 「This place is like a stadium. (It’s like a stadium, where you can see the expressions on everyone’s faces. It’s a very easy venue to play」, tweeted a fan who attended the concert.
Thoughts on Honda no mori Hall
According to the Honda no Mori Hall official website, the Ishikawa Employees’ Pension Hall, which had been known for many years as 「Well City Kanazawa」, was reborn as the 「Honda no Mori Hall」 in October 2009, with a renewed determination to help revitalize the community and promote cultural and artistic activities.
The Ishikawa Kosei-Nenkin Kaikan was designed by Kisho Kurokawa and completed in 1977. Because it was built on the site of the former Kenrokuen Stadium, the hall was 「fan-shaped」, with accommodations, conference rooms, and other facilities arranged around the perimeter of the beautiful hall. Toshihiko Takamizawa of the band Alfie described it as 「like a stadium」, which is an apt description.
Incidentally, Honda-no-mori Hall is located in a corner of 「Honda-no-mori Park」, where many cultural facilities around Kenrokuen Park are concentrated, within walking distance of the nearby Ishikawa Prefectural Museum of Art, Ishikawa Prefectural Museum of History, and Ishikawa Prefectural Noh Theater.
A branch of the Tatsumi Waterworks flows through Honda-no-mori, and visitors can enjoy the mountain stream and waterfalls.
