Just when I thought the year 2022 had begun, it’s already Setsubun. It’s early, isn’t it?

Attraction ①: Geiko’s spectacular dances
One of the unique attractions of Utasu Shrine is the opportunity to see all the geiko dancing in Higashi Chaya-machi. Ordinary people rarely have a chance to enjoy the dances of the geisha. And of course, it’s free. It is really amazing.
Attraction ②: 「Fukumame」 with a prize draw
The most attractive part of the event is the bean throwing by the Geikos after the dances.
It comes with a fukubiki, where you can get gorgeous prizes. The number of prizes is about 400, which seems like a lot, but a lot of people will be there for the 「fukumame」, so I’d like to keep a good spot and try to be as stubborn as possible in the bean-throwing contest.
Last year, the event was scaled down due to Corona. Unfortunately, the 「Fukumamemaki」 was cancelled. With the infection spreading, it may be tough again this year.
I hope to return to a future where I can participate in the 「FukuMamemaki」 without any worries.
