This year marks the 14th year of the Kanazawa Jazz Street, but the 2020 event was canceled due to the Corona disaster, and last year the event was held live with no audience. After overcoming that, the event looks quite promising.
The 「Machikado Jazz Live」 featuring amateur bands and top artists from Japan and abroad is the essence of this event. Among the splendid members listed in the 「Guest Artist Information」 section of the 『Kanazawa Jazz Street 2022』 website, one in particular caught my attention….
Live performance by saxophonist Toshiyuki Honda
Toshiyuki Honda is a veteran saxophonist and music producer. He has produced 『News Station』 (TV Asahi, ended 2004), the 『The Woman in Martha』 movie series, 『Welcome newlyweds!』 (ABC TV, TV Asahi), and the drama 『Family Game』 (Fuji TV, 2013) starring Sho Sakurai, so even if you don’t know him, you have probably heard his music at some point.
「Toshiyuki Honda Burning Wave Quartet with Mei Inoue」 by the artists who participated in the album 『CC-Rex』 dedicated to Chick Corea, who passed away last February at the age of 79, will perform at 「Machikado Jazz Live」 this time, which is not to be missed. September 17 (Sat.) from 20:00 @ Oyama Shrine / September 18 (Sun.) from 15:00 @ Ishikawa Yonko Memorial Park.
Jazz guitarist Mei Inoue also to perform at 「Machikado Jazz Live」
Mei Inoue, who is attracting attention as a new generation guitarist, will perform in 「Special Concert II」 of 『Kanazawa Jazz Street 2022』 with 「STEREO CHAMP」 led by elite artists, which will be paid for and advance reservations will start in June.
If you were unable to get tickets, he will be performing at 「Machikado Jazz Live」 as 「Toshiyuki Honda Burning Wave Quartet with Mei Inoue」, so you may see a collaboration between a world-class veteran saxophonist and an up-and-coming jazz guitarist.
