The free cherry blossom viewing season has become an annual event at Kenrokuen. The period is decided after the blooming of the cherry blossoms in Kanazawa is announced. In 2023, the Kanazawa District Meteorological Observatory announced that admission will be free for seven days from Monday, March 27 to Sunday, April 2.

Ayaka Matoba, a reporter in her hometown of Ishikawa Prefecture, was born and raised in Kanazawa. She was recently appointed as Ishikawa Tourism Special Envoy, a position she had longed for, and when it was announced that Kenrokuen would be open free of charge during the cherry blossom viewing season on March 23, she immediately tweeted about it.

For seven days from Monday, March 27 to Sunday, April 2, Kenrokuen and Kanazawa Castle Park will be open from 7:00 am to 9:30 pm and illuminated from sunset to 9:30 pm.

For seven days until Sunday, April 2.The entire area of Kenrokuen Garden will be open both day and night, while the entire area of Kanazawa Castle Park will be open during the daytime and at night except for the Honmaru area and its surrounding area.
Admission is free, but please note that an admission fee is required for the 「Hishi Yagura and other」 structures in Kanazawa Castle Park. Just a reminder.
