Kanazawa Port Cruise Terminal Event Aimed at Zero Marine Litter 【Kanazawa Event】

From May 28 (Saturday) to June 12 (Sunday), including May 30 (Garbage Zero Day), June 5 (Environment Day), and June 8 (World Oceans Day), is the 「Spring Marine Litter Zero Week」. In Ishikawa Prefecture, 「Operation Marine Litter Zero! in Ishikawa」 will be held to reduce marine litter, including cleanups, educational activities, and TV programs throughout the prefecture. On May 28, the first day of the event, 「Operation Zero Marine Litter in Ishikawa 2022 Kickoff Event」 will be held.

The venue for the 「Operation Zero Marine Litter! in Ishikawa 2022 Kickoff Event」 was the Kanazawa Port Cruise Terminal. Visitors can learn about the marine environment and marine litter through a panel display on the current state of the sea and coasts of Japan and Ishikawa, a 「Let’s make flowers bloom on the beach」 workshop in which participants attach plastic trash flowers to branches made from drifted trash, sand sculpting using sand from Senrihama Beach, and a quiz corner.

A variety of stage events will also be held. There will be a 「Marine Litter Classroom」 by marine specialists, 「Dandy Sakano Quiz on Marine Litter Issues」 by 「Marine Litter Zero Ambassador「 Mr. Dandy Sakano, and 「Hokuriku Idol Club Stage」 featuring songs and talks by the Hokuriku Idol Club. Co-hosts Hirotaka Ishibashi, announcer of MRO Hokuriku Broadcasting, and Yuki Mukaiyama, announcer of Ishikawa Television Broadcasting, will serve as hosts.
