Male members of the American football team 「EVERGREEN」 of Kanazawa University visited Togashi Elementary School in Kanazawa.The sixth-grade students were allowed to wear football helmets with face guards, and they seemed to enjoy interacting with the students.
Support for flag football classes for 6th graders
Flag football is a sport that originated from American football, so called because instead of tackling, players take a flag attached to their waist.It has been played in earnest in Japan since the late 1990s.
The Kanazawa University football team has been supporting sixth graders at Togashi Elementary School when they take a flag football class in June this year, and they are planning to interact with fifth graders in November.
We recall the players’ efforts to teach rugby to local children in “No Side Game” (TBS, July 2019 season), a drama starring Yo Oizumi about a working rugby club.
Female managers are reliable
In her declaration of determination made last December, Ms. Mio Natsume, the current main manager and MGR leader, stated that the players and staff alike have the same desire to 「absolutely win」 and that 「there are many things that only a manager can do and that only a manager can do」.

Traffic safety watch activities
Natsume introduced on her 「EVERGREEN」 blog on September 16, 2021, 「Since July 1, we have been conducting traffic safety watch activities at the intersection in the Tagami Elementary School district」.
They started this activity because of a fatal accident involving an elementary school student and wondered if there was anything they could do to help. The children greeted him and their parents thanked him, and he said it became 「an opportunity to be aware that we are connected to society」.
Match against Fukui Prefectural University on October 29
One of the purposes of our visit to Togashi Elementary School was to 「announce a game against Fukui Prefectural University」.
The game is scheduled to be held on Saturday, October 29, from 13:00 at Kanazawa Municipal Ball Stadium.
