Ishikawa Prefecture’s tourism PR mascot, Hyakumansan, has been active in Kanazawa City. The annual flowerbed in the shape of Hyakumansan appeared in Kanazawa Castle Park, and in front of Kanazawa Station, a group of people took a commemorative photo with Haku-Man.
When did Mr. Hyakumansan’s flower beds start
This year again in October, a flowerbed in the shape of Hyakumansan has been decorated in Kanazawa Castle Park’s San-no-Maru Plaza to the delight of many people. Although we do not know the exact history of this event, there was a sighting of a similar flower bed at Kanazawa Station on the Internet in March 2016.
In April 2017, the flower bed was decorated in Oku-Utatsuyama Kenmin Park, and in 2020, it was displayed in front of Ishikawa Industrial Exhibition Hall No. 2 in October, and Kanazawa Castle Park from October to November. This time, the flowers will be displayed at Kanazawa Castle Park San-no-maru Plaza until November 6.
In front of Kanazawa Station, a moving Hyakumansan is a godsend
Hyakumansan sits in JR Kanazawa Station and watches over people. Sometimes he goes out to events, and on October 14 he appeared at the 「Ishikawa Hyakumangoku Cultural Festival 2023 Countdown Board Unveiling Ceremony」 held at the Kanazawa Station East Plaza to conduct a live performance in front of Ishikawa Governor Hiroshi Hase with great aplomb.
When a passerby pointed a camera at him, he posed for a “divine response” and snapped a commemorative photo in front of Kanazawa Station’s Kozumon gate with the idol group “Hokuriku Idol Club” and a domestic tourism company’s monitoring tour group. He is very service oriented.
The composer of 『Hyakumansan Kouta』 is so famous
Ishikawa Prefecture released a tourism attraction video 『Ishikawa Hyakumangoku Monogatari – Hyakumansan Kouta』 in October 2015, which is known to have been composed by Yumi Matsutoya (Yumi Matsutoya). The credit at that time was 「Composed by Yumi Matsutoya (Ishikawa Prefecture Tourism Brand Producer), supervised by Kazuyoshi Hayakawa (Ishikawa Prefecture Tourism General Producer), arranged by ASA-CHANG (ex-Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra)」.
