Fuka is a white cloth cut and dyed into the shape of petals, which is then made into the shape of a flower.
This time, cherry blossoms are the main attraction of the exhibition. Spring is coming to Kanazawa, isn’t it?
May they bloom for a thousand years to come.
Generally speaking, people say that flowers are beautiful precisely because their life is short.
However, on the website of Aki Samejima, a designer of cloth flowers and decorations, who has her own atelier, 「Nana flower」, there is a phrase, “It is beautiful because it never withers”. Yes, it is true that Fuka do not wither.
Rather than arguing about which is right and which is wrong, I think life is richer if we can accept that each has its own beauty. There is no doubt that beautiful flowers are comforting.
Just imagining an exhibition full of cherry blossoms is soothing, isn’t it?

This winter has been quite hard with a lot of snow. So, it would be nice to see an early spring at the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa.
