There are actually a lot of advantages for adults to start playing tennis.
As I mentioned at the beginning of this article, tennis seems difficult and physical, and in many ways it seems like a hurdle to overcome when you start playing as an adult, but in fact there are many advantages to starting playing tennis.
①Can be done in small groups.
Soccer and volleyball require a number of players, but tennis can be played with only two players. The fact that it does not require a large number of players is one of the attractive points of tennis.
②More friends in the hobby
Even if you don’t have friends or acquaintances who play tennis, you can connect with them through tennis schools, social circles, and SNS. It’s nice to have friends through a hobby.
③Increased strength and cardiopulmonary function
The point is not to become a professional, but to enjoy doing it slowly and according to your own fitness and ability level. As you continue, you will gradually build up your physical strength.
The faster you can speed up the rally, the higher your cardiorespiratory fitness will be, since it will be “interval training” with repeated dashes and rests.
④Improves body balance as you move both hands.
It is a sport that uses the dominant hand, but since it uses both sides of the body, such as the backhand and forehand, it is not a one-way movement, but a well-balanced movement.
⑤Activate the brain
During a match, the players are constantly thinking and moving their bodies in the following sequence: 「watch the ball and opponent’s movement」, 「think of an effective way to return the ball」, and 「quickly move to a position where it is easy to return the ball」.
⑥Stress relief
Stress is relieved by moving your body, sweating, making a good smash, and having fun playing with your friends.
