「Hina Decoration Exhibition – Hina Tool」 has started at Kanazawa Museum of Life in Tobiume-cho 【Kanazawa Event】

Setsubun and Valentine’s Day are over, and next comes the Dolls’ Festival.

So today, I would like to talk about the 「Hina Decorations Exhibition」.

About 200 hina dolls on display

March 3 is Peach Festival. It is a day to pray for the healthy growth of girls.

Hina dolls are believed to take the place of children and protect them from illness and accidents. Therefore, they are displayed with a wish for a healthy and happy life.

At first, there were only two dolls, 「Ouchiurasama」 and 「Ohinasama」, but little by little more dolls and furniture were added, becoming more and more gorgeous tiered decorations, until they settled on the current seven-tiered decoration.

Nowadays, the decorations are almost uniform, but before World War II, each house had different decorations, such as kinugi, writing desks, koto (Japanese harps), and dolls that were actually played by children in those days.

They have unique tools and about 200 hina dolls from the Meiji and Taisho periods on display. You never get to see so many hina dolls at once, so this is a rare opportunity.

Hina dolls and decorations are so finely crafted and amazing.
