A chance to get to know classical music and wind instruments
The woodwind quintet 「Yuunagi Quintet」 consists of Ritama Ogata (flute, guest), Ayako Imai (oboe), Junya Ichikawa (clarinet), Yoichi Hasegawa (horn), and Yoshie Mizumoto (bassoon). Expectations are high for Yukari Yamada on piano and Kenshi Okada, aka “Okaken the Singing Narrator,” who will read the piece (titles omitted).
The first part of the concert will be a mixture of classical pieces, 「Animal Song Medley」 to introduce the instruments, 「My Neighbor Totoro Medley」 by a woodwind quintet, and 「Under the Sea」 familiar from Disney’s 『The Little Mermaid』, a selection that children will be familiar with.
Among brass bands, the two most difficult instruments to play are the 「oboe」, which uses a double reed to produce sound, and the bassoon, which uses a double reed and has 29 keys, making it difficult to finger (sorry for the Hakata dialect).

Fumiaki Miyamoto, father of violinist Shori Miyamoto, is known as a former oboe player. During his active years, he played in NHK’s morning TV series “Asuka” and commercials, so you have probably heard his sound somewhere.
On the other hand, some of you may know bassoon players because Taeko Suzuki appeared on a variety show. But in any case, they are not as recognized as trumpet, saxophone, flute, and horn, right?
Here I would like to introduce its wonderful sound from the YouTube channel 「Taeko Suzuki」. With a cover of Aimiyoon’s 『Marigold』.
What it’s like to be a woodwind quintet
Solo by bassoon is also wonderful, but woodwind quintet gives a different view of the world. The next performance video is by the Yunagi Quintet (Aika Nose on horn: guest appearance).
Aqua Musica organizes classical concerts mainly in Kanto and Hokuriku regions. We are planning to hold many more concerts in Kanazawa as well.
