Novelist Hiroyuki Itsuki moved to Tokyo to attend Waseda University after graduating from high school in his hometown of Yame, Fukuoka Prefecture. He then spent several years from 1965 in Kanazawa, Ishikawa Prefecture. In his essay 『Hiroyuki Itsuki’s Kanazawa Sanpo』 (2015), there is a passage titled 「Another Hometown (My Kanazawa)」.
One of the places that Hiroyuki Itsuki is known to have frequented and penned is 「Junkissa Lawrence」 in Korinbo, a downtown area of Kanazawa, Ishikawa Prefecture.
Appearance that attracts fashion designers
Fashion designer Keita Maruyama, known for his KEITA MARUYAMA brand, said, 「This building is amazing. I want to rent a whole building」. A TV director also praised the 「world of the exterior staircase」.
The paintings, dried flowers, and other decorations that adorn the interior of the store create an atmosphere reminiscent of another dimension, and it seems that not only Mr. Hiroyuki Itsuki but also many other people have come to the store to seek a moment of peace and quiet.
Numerous celebrities have visited the store
Jiro of the comedy duo Sisonne visited in June 2015, perhaps because he is from Hirosaki City, Aomori Prefecture.
Yukkun is a member of the avant-pop unit DENKAGE and Shonen CQ. He has recently released his first album 『DIVA YOU』 by DIVA Project, and is developing activities that are honest to himself, but he has always liked visiting coffee shops and posting images on SNS.
In 2020, he published a photo of his visit to Pure Tea Lawrence and vowed to 「definitely go back」.
The secret of the charm lies in the “wizard” madam.
Junkissa Lawrence has attracted many people since the days of Hiroyuki Itsuki. Its true charm seems to lie in the madam who runs the store.
The madam seems to have a unique charm, as the Miss iD 2019 girls describe her as a 「witch」 and a 「wizard」.
