The city of Kanazawa still retains historical buildings and the atmosphere of a castle town. The 「Kanazawa Urban Beauty Culture Award」, which is given to buildings that harmonize with the cityscape, enhance the urban character, and create a comfortable and attractive urban space, is again calling for entries this year.
Kanazawa City is inviting entries for the 45th Kanazawa Urban Beauty and Culture Award, which is given to buildings that enhance the city’s character and make urban spaces comfortable and attractive, in consideration of their harmony with the surrounding townscape and landscape.
The contest is open to buildings constructed in Kanazawa City between September 1, 2007 and August 31, 2022. We are accepting applications for a wide range of categories, including newly constructed or renovated buildings, restored historical buildings, restored 「Kanazawa Machiya」 townhouses, and displays, signs, and various facilities in the city. There are three divisions: 「General」, 「Public」, and 「Restoration/Renovation」, and both self-recommendations and recommendations are accepted.

| Restoration and Rehabilitation Section | Facilities that fall under the above categories and have been renovated in consideration of the environment and aesthetics. |
Nominations can be made by filling out the nomination form or by mailing the form to the Kanazawa City Landscape Policy Division by Wednesday, August 31 (must arrive by this date). The Kanazawa Urban Beautification Committee will select the nominees based on the voting results by Kanazawa citizens, and the results will be announced and an award ceremony will be held in March 2023.
In addition, a prize of 「Kanazawa-related goods」 will be awarded by drawing from among those who nominate a building. The winners will be announced by mailing the prize to the winners.
