Nail Art x Ceramic Art Workshop at 「KAMU kanazawa」 in Hirosaka, Kanazawa 【Kanazawa Event】

A workshop to deepen understanding of ceramic artist Takuro Kuwata’s works through gel nail art will be held at KAMU kanazawa, a private contemporary art museum, on May 28 (Sat) and 29 (Sun) (related article).

Takuro Kuwata creates his works by arranging traditional ceramic techniques with his unique sensibility. His works have been exhibited at the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa, the Art Institute of Chicago, and other prominent museums in Japan and abroad, as well as at KAMU kanazawa since its opening.

What kind of workshop is KAMU kanazawa WORKSHOP Learn Takuro Kuwata’s intravenous drip style in gel nails?

In this workshop, participants will simulate the production process of Kuwata’s works by using their fingernails as artworks and LED lights as kilns. Participants will select two of the five works using Kuwata’s signature 「drip」 technique, and a manicurist will apply one nail on each side of the nail to reproduce the work (or a single finger). A manicurist will apply nails that reproduce his works to one finger on each side (the other fingers will be painted in a single color). Participants will receive one-on-one explanations about Kuwata’s works, and will have their gel nails done in a unique way that is not commonly used.

The manicurist is Yukiko Asano, owner of the popular nail salon 「be born」 at Gakugeidaigaku Station in Tokyo. Reservations are now being accepted (reservations required) and the fee is 15,000 yen excluding tax, with a limit of 4 people per day. Some times are already sold out, so please check the reservation site in advance. In addition, please remove your nail polish and leave your own nails in good condition prior to participating in the workshop.

The nearest buses from Kanazawa Station East Exit get off at 「Korinbo Tokyu Square / Nichigin-mae」 and walk about 4 minutes, get off at 「Korinbo」 and walk about 4 minutes, get off at 「Hirosaka / 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art」 and walk about 2 minutes, and buses from Kanazawa Station West Exit get off at 「Korinbo 1 ・ 3」 and walk about 2 minutes, get off at 「Korinbo」 and walk about 4 minutes. From 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, it is about a 5-minute walk along Hyakumangoku Street in the direction of Korinbo.
