I may have never heard of the “Japan Sweet Potato Summit” before.
Yup. It’s certainly an unfamiliar event name unless you’re a farmer or someone related to a farmer or a sweet potato fanatic.
The “Sweet Potato Summit” is an event held during the 「Sweet Potato Expo」 to select the best sweet potato producer of the year from all over Japan.
The judges are experts in the field of sweet potatoes, so I think they will be really happy if they are chosen.
It was named Farmer of the Year.
There are two divisions, the sweet potato division and the producer division, and Goroshima Kintoki was selected in the producer division.
◆Farmer of the Year
Judged on how the sweet potato growers work during the year.
Producers are selected and awarded from multiple perspectives, including quality, productivity, newness of initiatives, tradition preservation, and environmental measures.
◆Sweet Potato of the Year
The award is presented to the most outstanding sweet potatoes produced in Japan this season. The sweet potato brand name will be withheld, and the judging will be based solely on taste and appearance.
Goroshima kintoki is low in fiber and high in carbohydrates, so it is easy to use in both cooking and sweets, and is also useful in kaiseki.
It is truly amazing and I am happy that the efforts of the farmers who grow the delicious Goroshima kintoki have been recognized in the best way possible, as the best in Japan.
