Since its establishment in 1948, 「Matsunoyu」, a public bathhouse facing Seseragi Street between the Nagamachi Buke Yashiki district and Korinbo, has been loved by local residents and bathhouse fans for more than 70 years, but it will close its business in 2020.
According to AG InterBridge Corporation (Chuo-ku, Tokyo), which launched the 「Matsunoyu」 public bathhouse revival project, 「With the cooperation of the Ishikawa Public Bath Association and Kanazawa City, we will open on November 26, 2022 (Saturday), 『Good Bath Day』. We aim to create a public bathhouse where local residents who are familiar with the culture of public baths, including Matsunoyu, travelers, and visitors from inside and outside of the prefecture who practice a new lifestyle using remote work can interact with each other while experiencing Kanazawa’s history and culture」.
Happo Tsukitei, a disciple of Happo Tsukitei Rokuban and a comedian who lives in Ishikawa Prefecture, reported on his experience at 「Matsunoyu」 in the information program 『Gyutto! Ishikawa Yudoki Live』 (HAB Hokuriku Asahi Broadcasting).
According to the report, bathing fees are reasonable: 「460 yen for adults」, 「300 yen for college, high school, and junior high school students」, 「130 yen for elementary school students」, and 「50 yen for infants」. In addition, 「including sauna 700 yen」, 「sauna 240 yen」, and 「towel set 100 yen」 were also available.
