From July 1, 「Firefly Viewing Party」 will be held at Kenrokuen Garden, the pride of Kanazawa City and a special place of scenic beauty.
Fireflies live in Kenrokuen, where the high-quality water for the Tatsumi Aqueduct flows into the garden, even though it is located in an urban area, due to its abundant nature.
「Firefly Viewing」 will be held on July 1 (Fri.), 2 (Sat.), 8 (Fri.), and 9 (Sat.).
Admission is free, so feel free to go and see them.
At spots in the park where you can view fireflies, you can listen to commentary from an interpreter from the 「Kanazawa Firefly Society」.
Entry to the park is possible only from the 「Lotus Pond Gate Exit」 and 「Kodatsuno Exit」 (walking map).
Lighting is minimal so that fireflies can be seen clearly. Since it is dark around your feet, etc., follow the guidance and instructions of the staff and be careful not to leave the designated path. Also, flash is not allowed for photographing fireflies.
To get to Kenrokuen Garden, take the Hokutetsu bus from the west exit of Kanazawa Station, and get off at 「Kenrokuen-shita/Kanazawa Castle」 on the 「Nishiki-cho Awasaki Line (Kanazawa Station – Tobu Shako) bound for Tobu Shako」, the 「Hokuriku University Line (Kanazawa Station – Hokuriku University Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences) bound for Hokuriku University Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences」, or the 「Saikawa Line (Kencho-mae – Kamitatsumi) bound for Kamitatsumi」, and then walk about 3 minutes.
