Today, I would like to talk about two unique attractions of Utasu Shrine’s \u300cSetsubun Festival\u300d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Attraction \u2460: Geiko’s spectacular dances<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

One of the unique attractions of Utasu Shrine is the opportunity to see all the geiko dancing in Higashi Chaya-machi. Ordinary people rarely have a chance to enjoy the dances of the geisha. And of course, it’s free. It is really amazing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Attraction \u2461: \u300cFukumame\u300d with a prize draw<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The most attractive part of the event is the bean throwing by the Geikos after the dances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It comes with a fukubiki, where you can get gorgeous prizes. The number of prizes is about 400, which seems like a lot, but a lot of people will be there for the \u300cfukumame\u300d, so I’d like to keep a good spot and try to be as stubborn as possible in the bean-throwing contest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last year, the event was scaled down due to Corona. Unfortunately, the \u300cFukumamemaki\u300d was cancelled. With the infection spreading, it may be tough again this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I hope to return to a future where I can participate in the \u300cFukuMamemaki\u300d without any worries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
