There are two ballots, one for \u300celectoral districts\u300d and one for \u300cproportional representation\u300d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"764\" src=\"https:\/\/kanazawa.local-now.jp\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/24335895_m-1024x764.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2984\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">\u3000<a href=\"https:\/\/www.photo-ac.com\/main\/detail\/24335895#goog_rewarded\">(From Photo AC)<\/a><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>On the first \u300cElectoral Area\u300d ballot you will be handed, you will select a candidate from the Ishikawa Electoral Area and write his\/her name (Candidate for the Ishikawa Electoral Area). This time, a record number of six candidates are running, but the maximum number is \u300c1\u300d and only one will be chosen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/nhk_kanazawa\/status\/1541361840202170369\">Tweet\u3092\u8868\u793a<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>On the second ballot for \u300cProportional Representation\u300d, write the name of the candidate or the name of the party or political organization (abbreviations are also acceptable). The \u300cProportional Representation\u300d ballot is for the whole country, and there are 178 candidates (see the list of candidates). Incidentally, the \u300celectoral district\u300d and \u300cproportional representation\u300d candidacies that are possible in the House of Representatives elections are not allowed in the House of Councillors elections. Therefore, it is not possible for a candidate who was unsuccessful in the electoral district to be elected again in the proportional district.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Polling places are checked in advance<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The polling place for each district in which you live is listed on the &#8220;Polling Place Entrance Orderly Ticket&#8221; that was mailed to you, or you can also check it on the official website of Kanazawa City. If you have lost your \u300cPolling Place Entrance Orderly Ticket\u300d, the staff at the polling place will check the voter registration list and take care of the procedures for you, so please go to the polling place first.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Voting hours are from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. However, if the municipal election management committee determines that there are special circumstances, the voting hours may be moved up (Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications). In last year&#8217;s lower house election, 16,967 polling places nationwide moved up their hours (Yomiuri Shimbun Online), so this year it would be best to go early while avoiding the hot daytime hours. If possible, it would be better if you can vote during the cool morning hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If circumstances prevent you from going to the polling place on July 10 (Sun.), you can still cast your ballot on or before July 9 (Sat.).
