It is a day to pray for the healthy growth of girls.

Hina dolls are believed to take the place of children and protect them from illness and accidents. Therefore, they are displayed with a wish for a healthy and happy life.

At first, there were only two dolls, 「Ouchiurasama」 and 「Ohinasama」, but little by little more dolls and furniture were added, becoming more and more gorgeous tiered decorations, until they settled on the current seven-tiered decoration.

Nowadays, the decorations are almost uniform, but before World War II, each house had different decorations, such as kinugi, writing desks, koto (Japanese harps), and dolls that were actually played by children in those days.

They have unique tools and about 200 hina dolls from the Meiji and Taisho periods on display. You never get to see so many hina dolls at once, so this is a rare opportunity.

Hina dolls and decorations are so finely crafted and amazing.

Event Summary

name

Hina Decorations Exhibition – Hina Tool

Holding period

February 12, 2022 (Earth) ~ April 10, 2022 (Sun)

Opening Hours

9:30 – 17:00 *entry until 16:30

closed day

Monday *If Monday is a national holiday, the following day will be closed.

venue

Kanazawa Museum of Life (3-31 Tobiume-cho, Kanazawa City *on the premises of Shikindai Junior High School)

Charge

・General: 310 yen
・Groups (20 or more people): 260 yen
・Persons 65 years old and over, persons with disability certificate and their caregivers: 210 yen (free on national holidays)
・High school students and younger: Free

inquiry

076-222-5740

I’m interested in seeing 200 hina dolls and old time hina decorations, I’d like to see them.

Setsubun and Valentine’s Day are over, and next comes the Dolls’ Festival.
